How We Collect Phone Numbers
We collect mobile phone numbers through the following methods:
- Client Contracts and Proposals: When you sign a project contract or proposal with A Step Above, your phone number is collected as part of the agreement. SMS consent language is included in these documents.
- Contractor Onboarding: Team members and subcontractors provide their phone number during the onboarding process and acknowledge consent to receive work-related SMS notifications including scheduling, safety alerts, and project assignments.
- Direct Business Communication: When you voluntarily provide your phone number during phone calls, emails, in-person meetings, or site visits for the purpose of project coordination.
- Referrals: When a general contractor, builder, or other business partner provides your contact information for project coordination. You will receive an opt-in confirmation message before ongoing communication.
Message Frequency
Message frequency varies based on project activity. During active project periods, you may receive up to 10 messages per week. Outside of active project periods, message frequency is minimal to none.
Costs
A Step Above does not charge for sending SMS messages. However, standard message and data rates from your wireless carrier may apply. Contact your carrier for details about your messaging plan.
Opt-Out
You may stop receiving SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message from us. You will receive one final confirmation message acknowledging your opt-out. No further messages will be sent unless you re-subscribe.

- Warranty periods as specified in your project contract (typically 1 year from completion)
- Tax record retention (typically 7 years for 1099 and financial records)

- Insurance and legal record requirements
Project photos, daily reports, and closeout documentation are retained as permanent project records.
